Caramel Popcorn

2 c unpopped popcorn
2 c brown sugar
1 c margarine
1/2 c corn syrup
1/2 t salt
1 t vanilla
1/2 t baking soda

Pop popcorn and cool.  Remove unpopped kernels. In sauce pan mix brown sugar, margarine, white syrup, and salt.  Bring to boil and boil 30 seconds. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and baking soda.  Place popcorn in roasting pan and pour caramel over popcorn stirring thoroughly to coat all popcorn.  Bake 1 hour at 250, stirring every 15 minutes.  For chewier caramel corn, don't bake.

  1. What is white syrup and are you talking of farenheit or centigrade?

  2. White Syrup would be corn syrup. The temp would be in Fahrenheit. Enjoy!
